What is SafeType Keyboard?
SafeType Keyboard is an on-device keyboard for iOS that keeps every keystroke completely private. Unlike most keyboards that send your typing data to remote servers for autocorrect and language modeling, SafeType Keyboard processes everything locally on your device. No data is ever uploaded, collected, or shared.
How does it work?
SafeType Keyboard uses on-device AI to provide autocorrect, predictions, and a smooth typing experience — all without an internet connection. The AI model runs entirely on your phone's hardware. There are no servers involved, no cloud processing, and no network requests. Your keystrokes never leave your device.
How do I install SafeType Keyboard?
After downloading from the App Store:
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad
- Go to General → Keyboard → Keyboards
- Tap Add New Keyboard
- Select SafeType Keyboard from the list
- Tap SafeType Keyboard again and enable Allow Full Access
Note: "Allow Full Access" is an iOS requirement for third-party keyboards. SafeType Keyboard does not use this permission to transmit any data. It has no network capability.
Does SafeType Keyboard collect any data?
No. SafeType Keyboard collects zero data. No keystrokes, no usage analytics, no device identifiers, no telemetry of any kind. There is no data collection mechanism in the app. This is privacy by architecture, not by policy.
Does it work offline?
Yes. SafeType Keyboard works entirely offline. It requires no internet connection to function because all processing happens on your device. In the woods, on a plane, no signal required.
What devices are supported?
SafeType Keyboard is available for iPhone and iPad running iOS 16 or later.
I'm having trouble with the keyboard. What should I do?
